It's nothing new for the Lesnar haters to show their ugly faces anytime he makes headlines. I've read several reports today about Lesnar's return to wrestling. The comments on these articles are just ridiculous. "Lesnar wasn't a good fighter?" "He ran back to wrestling because he was scared?"
People like that infuriate me. The man almost dies twice from diverticulitis, and misses over a year of competition. Yet he trains regardless, and fights at the highest level of mma competition in the world. How can it be said he wasn't a good fighter? He dominated Heath Herring, a former heavyweight contender, broke his orbital bone with a single punch and retired Herring from mma. TKO's Randy Couture, a legend and arguably one of the greatest ever in the cage. Then defends the title against the man who handed him his first loss. Knocking out Frank Mir, a very dangerous BJJ blackbelt, in the second round.
Then astounding the world once again, takes on possibly the hardest hitting man in the heavyweight division. Lesnar endured the first barrage of blows, and defended himself just enough to keep the ref from stopping it. As the second round began, Lesnar smiled at the man who had just beat his face in for 5 minutes. With no hesitation Lesnar hits a big takedown and an arm triangle submission, forcing the monsterous Shane Carwin to tapout.
Of course after this victory while training for his fight with Junior Dos Santos, Lesnar was diagnosed with his deadly disease. He fought with it not once, but twice and won. The fact that he ever stepped back into the cage again was amazing.
I for one am extremely excited about Lesnar's return to wrestling, he can work a few nights a month, make a couple of PPV appearances, and make great money. But most of all his impact on wrestling is undeniable, he has the brute strength of a big guy with the speed of a cruiserweight. His contract may only be for a year, but I for one think its going to be one hell of a year
The purpose of this was to hopefully remind some of these Lesnar Haters of his great accomplishments, and to show how excited I am to have one of my favorite wrestlers back in the ring.
